I think it is technically automatic because mothers are the ones who carry the child during pregnancy and fathers can just abandon the woman, however there are choices mothers have, like adoption and such that means they don't have to automatically be the mother.

I think that fatherhoiod is optional. The fathers really dont do anything with their child until its born. Even still, few of them sometimes dont pay attetion. Some leave the mother at an early stage in pregnancy. The father has a choice wether he wants to be a father or not. And when he makes the decission to become a father, its not optional anymore.

i agree with this, because women are the ones carrying the baby for 9 months, so that gives the father time to leave the mother and the baby. throughout those 9 months motherhood and fatherhood is different, but once the baby is born it's the same.

I don't believe that either motherhood or fatherhood should be optional. The only decision you should make is whether to have a kid or not.

I was shocked to read that the Supreme Court made such a decision to put men over women in such a way. It seems unfair to allow the father to leave the mother to take care of the baby herself, while the mother has no such option short of adoption.

people always say that a woman becomes a mother when she gets pregenant, and a man becomes a father when he sees his baby. i thinnk a woman has a mcuh different attachment and connection with the baby, that the fathers later have to chose to want to build.

I think that mothers are more so obligated to motherhood. Although it is all a choice. It is a choice on the mothers side and the fathers side. Both commit to it in the beginning whether they continue the commitment or not. If they chose to have the baby then they both should have to continue to stick with their commitment. But like anything in life there are exceptions.

motherhood is not optional. if your a mother, you have to stick with your baby even if it's completly unexpected. fatherhood, on the otherhand, isn't. there's ways to stay protected from having a baby, but most guys don't care to do anything about that. but guys shouldn't just leave their significant other just because the women gets pregnant. they need to stay and help take care of the baby and put just as much effort as the mother does.
